Während des 33rd International Abashiri Symposiums am Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples stellte Erich Kasten Konzepte der Kulturstiftung Sibirien zur Digital Humanities of the North Initiative vor. In seinem Vortrag Sharing Cultural Concepts and Practices Through Advanced Digitization: Towards Multifunctional Archives and Interfaces for Multiple Audiences sprach er vor allem die Zusammenführung von digitalisierten Museumssammlungen und entsprechenden Videodokumentationen in Kooperation mit indigenen Gemeinschaften an. Dies wurde mit Hilfe von Beispielen aus eigenen Aufzeichnungen zum Kunsthandwerk der Evenen in Kamtschatka illustriert. Im Anschluss an das Symposium wurde eine engere Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples und der Kulturstiftung Sibirien zu gemeinsamen Vorhaben vereinbart.

During the 33rd International Abashiri Symposium at the Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples, Erich Kasten presented the underlying concepts of the Foundation of Siberian Cultures’ initiative Digital Humanities of the North. In his presentation Sharing Cultural Concepts and Practices Through Advanced Digitization: Towards Multifunctional Archives and Interfaces for Multiple Audiences he talked notably about the connecting of digitized museum collections and corresponding video documentation in cooperation with indigenous communities by showing examples of his own recordings of Even craftsmanship from Kamchatka. One of the outcomes of the symposium was the decision to intensify cooperation between the Foundation of Siberian Cultures and the Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples.

Во время 33-го Международного симпозиума в Музее северных народов Хоккайдо в г. Абасири Эрих Кастен представил концепцию Фонда культуры народов Сибири о веб-портале «Цифровые гуманитарные науки Севера». В своем докладе Sharing Cultural Concepts and Practices Through Advanced Digitization: Towards Multifunctional Archives and Interfaces for Multiple Audiences («Обмен культурными концепциями и практикой через передовую оцифровку: к многофункциональным архивам и интерфейсам для многочисленной аудитории») он рассказал об объединении оцифрованных музейных коллекций и соответствующей видео-документации, собранной в сотрудничестве с общинами коренных народов. Это было проиллюстрировано на примерах его собственных записей прикладного искусства эвенов на Камчатке. По итогам симпозиума было согласовано более тесноe сотрудничествo между Музеем северных народов Хоккайдо и Фондом культуры народов Сибири.
